looking back, looking forward

Looking back:
I have spent a lot of this year trying to change habits. Habits that were ingrained so long that it's been quite hard to change them and the thought patterns that go with them. I'm sounding vague but I really don't want this to turn into a sad post so let me just say, it's been hard to stop doing all the things I used to do for mum. Visiting her, shopping for her, dressmaking for her (it took me a while to realise that my Christmas gift-making process was so much shorter this year because I didn't make anything for mum), doing what she needed/wanted me to do for her. Even when I wasn't doing all that, I was always thinking about what she would need or want. As I said, changing ingrained habits is difficult. I am getting there. Slowly. But I am getting there.

Looking forward:
I'm looking forward to the year just starting. It's always a good excuse/reason to make lists and I love lists. I write lists for everything. Joanna gave me (amongst many other cool presents!) 3 notebooks for my Christmas and, guess what I'm going to use them for? That's right. Lists!

The one with the sewing machine on it will be a list of everything I sew next year. Dressmaking, patchwork, bags, pinnies - they'll all get added into that notebook.

One of the others will be a list of all the dressmaking fabrics in my sewing room so that I can score things off when they're used. Hopefully, the scoring off won't lead to an "I must replace that one" kind of thinking but more "another one down, only 634 pieces to go". (Slight exaggeration there - but only slight! LOL)

I haven't quite decided what I'll use the third one for - maybe knitting & crochet projects I want to make or have completed? We'll just have to wait and see!

I'm going to stop here and thank everyone who has read my wee blog in the past year. There are a lot of people who leave me comments and I thank you most sincerely for that. There are also lots of people who don't comment and I thank you most sincerely for reading. Let me now just wish you and yours a very Happy New Year. See you in 2016!
